One Year Apprenticeship

Herbalists teach people how to use plants to keep themselves, their community and their families healthy.

The Apprenticeship 1 We will cover Introductory Chemistry, Botany, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacy, and much more! This will be a certificate program that will begin the work on the requirements to become AHG registered if you so desire. The Coursework portion is only available to program students.

The Apprenticeship 1 program will take approximately 1 year to complete. You will have access to all instructors via chat, and email. There will also be biweekly (every other week) zoom meetings to ask questions.

Every month you will receive a kit. This kit will contain enough materials to complete the medicine making activity of the month. There will be herbs, instructions, lectures, and instruction for every month's module. You can take as long as you need to complete the course. Tentative yearlong schedule and this can change without notice:

  • Month one: Activity: The Chemistry of Fixed Oils and Salves and Salve making. Coursework: Introduction to chemistry, Atoms solubility and bonding
  • Month two Activity: Making teas, compresses, poultices, liniments. Coursework: The history of herbalism, Materia Medica, Herbal energetics, Properties of herbs, Herbal Vocabulary
  • Month three: Activity: cordials, oxymels, syrups. Coursework: Botany- plant parts, families and taxonomy
  • Month four Activity: Making Capsules, and pills. Coursework: Anatomy-Intro to body systems
  • Month five Activity: Self-care Course work: Immune system, Plant identification and plant parts
  • Month six Activity: Activity: First Aid Training, building your personal apothecary and planning final project Coursework: Intro to pathology, how disease works
  • Month seven Activity: Healing foods. Coursework: Materia Medica check in, Self-Care, diet and food as medicine, skincare
  • Month eight Activity: Clay body wrap Coursework: Intro to Aromatherapy
  • Month nine Activity: Hydrosols how to distill and use hydrosols, Coursework: Distillation
  • Month ten Activity: Making flower essences Coursework: Homeopathy
  • Month eleven Growing herbs, working on final project
  • Month twelve Final project and graduation

Subscription is $220 a month for 12 months. Once the 12 month period has ended, you will no longer be charged.
